“An entrepreneur tends to bite off a little more than (s)he can chew hoping (s)he’ll quickly learn how to chew it.” This statement by Roy Ash rings true in my career journey.
With every new project and opportunity that has come my way, I have taken it on and during the process I learn, grow and add it to my list of achievements. Vera Communications, a firm with offices in Chicago and Orlando, got its start with this go-getter attitude.
My entrepreneurial spirit first blossomed during my work in city government for the Chicago Department of Human Services and later for the Chicago Park District and the Illinois Network of Charter Schools where I outsourced many projects to public relations and marketing companies. I began to realize I was no longer content hiring creative teams; I wanted to build my own creative team.
As a single mother with three daughters, I took a leap of faith and started my own company. My desire to provide a good life for them and to be an example of a strong woman has been a huge driving force. I work hard to build something that we – as a family – can be proud of.
I am a firm believer that you can achieve as high and as big as you believe you can. On any given day, you are only as successful as you set out to be. I strive to provide clients with excellent services that assist them with achieving their goals.
I love being a part of others’ successes. Whether I am creating a radio commercial, or a web splash page, thinking of a tag line or designing a new logo – I take pride in knowing my work will impact a company’s ability to reach a wider audience.
